Check out our top tips below for what to look for when considering dog boarding.

Selecting a dog boarding facility is no easy feat; you want to ensure your dog is happy and healthy while you are away. It can be hard to know where to start if you have never looked into different dog boarding facilities. Check out our top tips below for what to look for when considering dog boarding.

For starters, we recommend hopping online and checking out customer reviews and testimonials. This will give you actual customer insight into each facility. After you have narrowed it down to your top few selections, an in-person visit to see the facility and meet the providers is a must-do.

When at the facility, take note of the outdoor play area, the sleeping accommodations, bathing set-up and more. If your pet has any specific dietary restrictions or necessary medications, be sure to inquire about policies and procedures to ensure your dog gets what they need ahead of time. We also feel it is important to know the credentials of the staff and/or the manager; you want someone who is expertly trained onsite overseeing the care of your dog. The boarding contract should be read over in detail– do not skim over the fine print!

Be sure to take note of any red flags while reading reviews and touring facilities. Some of these red flags could include dirty kennels, aggressive staff, reports of disease or sickness, or obviously neglected animals.
